Pioneering the Future of Electronic Identity: From Post-Quantum Cryptography to Fiduciary Principles

Abstract
Electronic identity (e-ID) underpins online security and privacy, yet faces two threats: the cryptography behind today's protocols will fall to quantum computers, and concentrating identities in a few providers erodes privacy while overburdening users. This thesis advances e-ID on both fronts. It makes OAuth 2.0 and OpenID Connect resistant to the quantum threat under realistic networks, and charts a more private, usable path through a rigorous taxonomy of self-sovereign identity, tools to search and compare identity models, and the Fiduciary Identity model, which delegates decisions to accountable, auditable fiduciaries. Several results reached national scale: this work's technology signs every electronic birth, marriage, and death certificate issued in Brazil.
